| COMMUNITY LIAISON OFFICER My client is a Charity based in Dublin that is a national provider of support and outreach services to individuals who have sustained spinal cord injuries, many of whom are wheelchair users in Ireland. This organisation currently wishes to recruit a suitably qualified Community Liaison Officer on a part-time basis to work in the region of South-West Ireland and cover the counties of Cork, Kerry and South Limerick.
This post delivers a regional case load support for all clients and their families in the allocated region. It encompasses vocational, venture and social activities and general advisory and support in relation to client and family needs generally. This is a pilot project and therefore the selected individual will be required to plan, develop and implement this new service successfully.
It facilitates the development of local networks and harnessing relationships with local agencies and networks to deliver a holistic service to clients which facilitates their integration in a complete way to their community.
Reporting to the Services Manager the selected candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Management of all activity within designated region
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures in conjunction with the Services Manager and deliver set KPI’s
- Develop all services in your region of responsibility
- Facilitate and support the vocational needs of clients in your region of responsibility
- Support volunteers, develop and attend regional groups around the country
- Provide information about the organisation itself and engage with policy makers regarding service developments for those affected by such injuries
- Visit clients and their families on a regular basis and link them with available local services where appropriate
- Develop contacts with relevant organisations in your designated region
- Develop local family/peer support groups
- Look at developing Job Clubs in partnerships with other agencies
- Develop work partnerships with a range of companies in the region
- Develop the relationship between the vocational and activities programs
Required skills / competencies:
- Third level education in social studies / social care / related - desirable but not essential
- Previous experience working in a role of a similar nature
- Knowledge of family work
- Experience liaising with agencies and other organisations
- Group work and facilitation skills experience an advantage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive and self motivated
- Empathic and understanding of client and family needs
- Working knowledge of computers
- Car and full clean driving license
Salary will be commensurate with level of skills and experience acquired to date.
