The FETAC Mental Health Awareness Level 6 Component Certificate is delivered by The Learning Curve Institute over 4 full days over a period of 4 weeks on Saturdays in Dublin, Galway and Limerick; 32 hours total classroom time plus further self directed learning. Places are extremely limited so early booking is advisable.<br />

The course takes place over 4 full days held over 4 Saturdays. This makes the course very flexible in nature and allows people from all over Ireland to attend even if they are in full time employment.<br />

Upon successful completion of the course learners will receive a FETAC Level 6 Component Certificate in Mental Health Awareness.<br />
This can be used as a stand-alone Minor Award or it can be combined with 7 other Level 6 Component Certificates as part of the FETAC Level 6 Major Awards in Social and Vocational Integration and Inclusive Education and Training.<br />
<b>About the Course:</b><br />
This module at FETAC Level 6 has been developed to enhance the understanding of Mental Health by personnel currently working in the Mental Health field or for those people who wish to develop a career in nursing, mental health or other sectors of the caring professions.<br />
The aim of this Level 6 FETAC Minor Award in Mental Health Awareness is to give attendees an in-depth understanding of mental health difficulties and to help them to apply this knowledge to support people who have mental health difficulties in a positive way. Learners who successfully complete this module will:<br />
<ul><li style="">acquire an understanding of the theoretical background associated with mental health issues</li><li style="">be aware of the moral, ethical and legal considerations associated with mental health</li><li style="">be familiar with theories and types of mental illness</li><li style="">understand the positive and negative factors which may affect your mental health</li><li style="">apply this knowledge in the workplace and in everyday life</li><li style="">appreciate various treatment approaches.</li></ul><b>Course Content:</b><br />
As per the FETAC guidelines for The Level 6 Minor Award in Mental Health Awareness, this course comprises the following four units:  <br />
1.    What is Mental Health?<br />
2.    The realities of Mental Illness<br />
3.    Intervention and Treatment Approaches<br />
4.    Recovery and Advocacy Options<br />
<b>Learning Outcomes:</b><br />
<ul><li style="">To build on and expand existing knowledge in relation to Mental Health within the group.&#8232;</li><li style="">To enhance confidence in participants in relation to their understanding of Mental Health Awareness and the different areas of Mental Illness.</li><li style="">To allow space and time for participants to look at intervention and treatment approaches for dealing with Mental health issues.</li><li style="">To equip participants with knowledge about recovery and advocacy options that are available</li></ul><b>Entry Requirements:</b><br />
Anyone who has had any experience with mental health issues in either a professional or personal capacity is eligible for the course. Application forms are used solely to gauge a candidate&#8217;s knowledge of the area in order to aid the tutor with his preparation.<br />
While there are no special or specific entry requirements for this course, The Learning Curve Institute and FETAC have the following preferred entry requirements for this Level 6 Mental Health Awareness component certificate:<br />
Level 4 Certificate or Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experiences.<br />

<b>Global Justice in Youth Work (FETAC L5)</b><br />
The National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) and YMCA Ireland have teamed up to provide a FETAC accredited development education training course to youth workers.<br />
NYCI&#8217;s vision for development education training within the youth sector is one where youth work practitioners are given the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver quality development education, inspiring the young people with whom they work to act for a more just and equal world.<br />
<b>Course Aim</b><br />
The aim of the 'Global Justice in Youth Work' course is to increase the capacity of youth workers to enable young people to make a meaningful contribution to a more just and sustainable world.<br />
<b>Course Objectives</b><br />
<ul><li style="">Increase youth workers familiarity with the opportunities that global youth work brings to existing youth work  practice in achieving organisational aims</li><li style="">Increase youth workers knowledge and understanding of the interconnectedness of the world locally and globally</li><li style="">Increase youth workers understanding of the impact of the global processes which influence young people's experience of life and the experience of a number of social and cultural groups experience of life</li><li style="">Increase youth workers and young people's appreciation of the value and challenges of incorporating many different perspectives.</li><li style="">Create the possibility for youth workers to enable young people to consciously and actively participate in shaping the world</li><li style="">Enhance youth workers skills and capacity to employ a number of methods when planning for global justice work with young people.</li></ul><b>Course Content</b><br />
The course is designed specifically for adult learners who work with young people. Some of the elements covered include; Globalisation and Global Issues, Perspectives and Values in Development Education, Small Group Facilitation and Project Planning and Resources.<br />
<b>After This Course</b><br />
Participants who successfully complete this training will have a sound understanding of Development Education theory and a proven ability to put this into practice in a non-formal setting.<br />
<b>Duration</b><br />
The course consists of 40 hours learning over two residential sessions.<br />

First Residential:                   Thursday 10<sup>th</sup> May &#8211; Saturday 12<sup>th</sup> May<br />
Second Residential:             Thursday 24<sup>th</sup> May &#8211; Saturday 26<sup>th</sup> May <br />

<b>The Award</b><br />
Participants submitting a successful portfolio are awarded a FETAC Level 5 component certificate.<br />
<b>Participant Profile</b><br />
Participants must<br />
<ul><li style="">Be a minimum of 18 years of age</li><li style="">Be working in a paid or voluntary capacity with young people in a non formal setting, such as youth groups, community groups or development organisations</li><li style="">Have a minimum of 1 year&#8217;s experience in planning, facilitating and evaluating youth work activities and have a genuine interest in global justice issues</li><li style="">Have access to a group of young people with whom they intend to implement their learning and skills during and after the course</li><li style="">Attend the full duration of the course</li><li style="">Have a mentor appointed by their organisations to support their learning during the course.</li></ul><b>Participant Fee - &#8364;550</b><br />
There is a <b>subsidised fee of &#8364;300</b>. This is available to participants from NYCI affiliated organisations and others whose participation is restricted on financial grounds. All applications for the subsidised fee are considered individually.<br />

The participant fee includes all FETAC administration, accommodation and meals at the two residential sessions and course materials.<br />
Funding for this course is provided by Irish Aid.<br />

Bradóg works in collaboration with groups and services that  aim to remove barriers to youth participation and equality. We are now  looking for 2 Part Time Youth Workers We operate from our base off  Parnell Square, and around the area - which has a large new communities  population. <br />

We run streetwork, schools programmes, drop ins, a Justice  Programme, music clubs, bike repair clubs, TV/Media work as well as  special targeted projects and events in summer, Easter, Patrick's Day  etc. Later this year we plan: To refurbish our premises and open a new  Youth Cafe and other services; To develop strategies for young people  from diverse ethnic backgrounds and To enhance our streetwork  programmes. We invite applications for 2 part-time Youth Worker posts  (17.5 hrs p.w.), from suitably qualified candidates with a minimum of: A  professionally endorsed qualification in Youth and Community Work, plus  two years experience working with young people at risk [desirable ] Or  An equivalent professional qualification or relevant degree plus two  years full time experience of working with young people at risk [  essential ] Or Have worked as a full time Youth Worker without formal  qualifications for at least 3 years. <br />

	This comprehensive and professional course is run by Urrús in  partnership with University College Dublin and intended  to provide  participants with a range of skills and knowledge both academic and  practical which will enhance their effectiveness in responding to the  complex issue of drug and alcohol misuse within a community  environment.  This programme leading to a NFQ Level 7 Diploma awarded by  National University of Ireland, University College Dublin, is based on  community development principles and uses adult learning approaches in  its delivery. The programme is accepted as part fulfillment of the  educational requirements for membership of IAAAC and offers a  progression pathway to B.Soc Science with UCD.<br />
 <b>Eligibility: </b>Persons who wish to develop their  knowledge and skill in the area of Community Drug/Alcohol work and who  have completed a Community Addiction Studies Course or equivalent.   Participants must be over 21 and have the capacity to complete a course  at NUI diploma level 7 (NFQ).<br />
	<b>Venue: </b> URRÚS Training Centre, Horizons Centre, Balcurris Rd, Ballymun, D11.<br />
	National University of Ireland, University College Dublin, Belfield Campus.<br />
